Meeting Minutes Submitted by Janet Joehlin
1) Welcome to new members Patty Hughes from Fremont, Ohio, and Lisa Sauer from Pittsburgh, PA.
We had 2 guests: Marge Hozian's sister, Barbara, and Kathy McCarty's sister, Linda
2) Kathy McCarty reported for Linda Bennett that plans for the Burton Quilt Show have been changed again.
The show will be at Century Village, like before, on the 18th and 19th of June. More info later.
3) Batting Sample Project- Linda Cline gave the overview of how it will work. Details can be found on the
website on the Batting Samples Project page.
The changes that were discussed include everyone washing the fabric first so it would be pre-shrink. We
changed the 2" extra middle fabric to only 1" and Linda Cline gave everyone sheets printed labels in which to
apply a fusible webbing so that they can be applied to their samples instead of us writing it on. Also, would
each participant include 15 extra 6" pieces of their batting along with the samples when they turn the project
in. Checks for $14.00 should be made out to OLAQ and sent to Linda Cline. (for the 4 & 1/2 yd. cuts of white
muslin)
4) March NEORQC meeting that we are hosting - Sarah Bistline asked for several people to come early to the
March meeting to help set up. EVERYONE SHOULD BE THERE BY 9AM. A poll will be put out to get a show of
hands who will arrive early. Please visit the meeting page for details on what is needed from members for
the event. If you wish to help out with unassigned tasks, please post an email to the yahoo group to let us
know.
5) Block Exchange- March-Jacob's Ladder April- Churn Dash
6) Nora Brandt asks for leftover batting scraps to use in a service project if anyone would like to donate.
7) Committee Reports
Treasury Report- Linda Cline.
Please see the Treasury webpage for current balance and details. Dues will be from Nov.-Oct. Late joiners
dues will be pro-rated. See schedule in the Rules.
Fund Raising Committee- Linda Miller.
The quilt show/auction is on hold. The Kaufman Center in Hartville will not agree to let us hang quilts on the
walls. They are rethinking their ideas. The committee will get together next Saturday Feb. 26 to put the raffle
baskets together for the NEORQC meeting.
Program Committee- Pat Waldron.
They will be planning 2006 programs soon. If anyone has any ideas for meeting locations or programs please
contact a member of the committee.
Public Relations- Mary Zeitz reports in Linda Bennett's absence.
Discussion on upcoming open meetings and how the PR committee should promote the events but should
they also be responsible for being the contact for and keeping track of the non-members attending the
events? We will take a volunteer for each event to be the contact person. Specific information for each
event will be shown on the website including a deadline for payment of the fee and a date for which refunds
can be no longer be issued. The contact person will respond to requests from non-members by sending them
an email with instructions on how to pay the fee (check or money order, payable to OLAQ, sent directly to
Linda Cline, Treasurer. Linda will advise the contact person when she receives a check and the contact
person will send an "E-TICKET" to the non-member that confirms his or her registration for the event. Mary
Zeitz will be the contact person for the first event (DeLoa Jones in May) to work out the kinks in the system.
Pat Waldron will contact Camp Mowana to see if they have any camera gear so that we can project the
presentation onto a screen or monitor to make it easier for attendees to see and allow us to accommodate
more people. Once we know if gear is available, we can decide on how many people can be accommodated.
