1) Welcome everyone!

2) Tax Exempt status-   No letter from Chitra yet. Anna Bachtel will keep us posted.

3) Shirley Stutz class- Shirley has offered to teach her Wonder Star class featuring the NEW foundation
piecing method she has perfected. There are 14 ladies signed up for this class on August 26th at the Quilt
Garden in North Canton. There are 8 signed up for the October 7th class in Cambridge at the Stitch-n-Post.
Look for details in the Files section of the Yahoo Group. If you are interested in taking the class, send a check
for $40, payable to OLAQ, to Kathy Goss for the class fee. The maximum number for each class is 24. Invite
your friends!

4) August Meeting- August 19 will be the next meeting at A Touch of Thread in Zanesville. Jodi Robinson will
provide us with a demo and Martha Creasy will demonstrate the Statler Stitcher. The fat quarter drawing will
be polka dots!

5) Nominating Committee- September will be the month that we form a nominating committee consisting of 3
members to provide a slate of nominees for the election of 2007-2008 OLAQ officers. The nominations will be
announced in October and voting will be online starting November 1, 2006. Please start thinking about who
could fill the officer positions for the next 2 years. The positions are President, Vice-President, Secretary and
Treasurer.

6) December Meeting- Our holiday party will be in Peninsula. The Hostess fee will be $10. There will be a
gift exchange with a $15 value.

Guest Speaker: NQA Certified Quilt Judge Fran Kordek presented

What is the Judge Thinking? This session would be of interest to quilters
who plan on entering competitions, as well as to quilters who simply wish to
evaluate and improve their own work. The first half consists of a lecture and
discussion covering the evaluation of workmanship and design, as well as
some personal insights on the judging process. The second half consists of a
mock judging where items brought by the participants are evaluated.
