Save your batting scraps for Nora Brant
From Nora Brant -   The group that uses the batting scraps is Faith, Hope, and Charity Stitches, Inc.  They provide all
kinds of things to NE Ohio area hospitals for families with children with needs.  We make quilts, burial outfits and
clothing, bereavement wrappings for early losses among other things.  The batting scraps are used for stuffing "snakes"
for positioning around newborns and preemies who are undergoing photo therapy for bilirubinemia (jaundice due to
liver immaturity).  They take a six inch  width of fabric and sew down the length.  This is stuffed with the batting and the
ends are sewn shut. Because these babies are stripped down to just their diaper for the light therapy they startle easily
and the snake tucks around them and gives them a swaddled comfort. The lady that coordinates all this acts like
Christmas morning when I take these scraps to her. She just recently got some women at a nursing home to help with
the stuffing and they are all excited to have a purpose so keep the scraps coming.  Before they were buying stuffing so
this represents a significant savings to them and makes good use of what would just be thrown out anyway.
