OLAQ
The Ohio LongArm Quilters Guild is presenting a premier event for quilters everywhere. This is the
only event of its kind ever to be offered in Ohio or the surrounding area.
Our goal is to provide education and inspiration to make your best quilts even better, by learning
how to use multiple tools, threads and creative ideas which relate to all forms of free motion
machine quilting.
What you can expect at Quilting with Machines:
Learn the latest techniques of longarm quilting in classes and demonstrations, with well known faculty
members including Jamie Wallen, Jodi Robinson, DeLoa Jones, Kathy McCarty, Jessica Jones,
Janice Kiser, Diana Phillips and others.
Learn how to set up your business with Bona Robinson.
Explore color and other basic quilt making techniques with Shirley Stutz.
Have questions on maintenance of your machine? Join Doug Creasy or Dave Jones, as they “show and tell”
how to properly maintain, make adjustments, and minor repairs to a longarm machine.
Want to know how the professionals do it? Join our panel of longarm quilters in an informative discussion
about all things relating to machine quilting.
Classes will be offered all day Friday and Saturday.
On-going FREE demonstrations, all day Friday and Saturday, will cover numerous topics in all areas of
machine quilting. Hear professional quilters explain what works and what doesn't. See new products. Learn
helpful ways to use tools, maybe even learn a new way to use an old tool. Be inspired by seeing the work of
multiple machine quilters.
Quilting with Machines will kick off with a special Vendors Night, on Thursday evening, from 6 pm to
10 pm, as vendors display products for machine quilters, as well as fabrics, books, notions, and all quilt
related supplies. Longarm machine dealers will have machines set up and ready for you to test drive, obtain
pricing information and get questions answered. This is the time to see the latest and greatest in machines,
notions and other products related to machine quilting. FREE ADMISSION TO THIS EVENT, PLUS DOOR
PRIZES AWARDED THROUGHOUT THE EVENING. Vendors will be in attendance only on Thursday
evening, except for A Touch of Thread Quilting Gallery, which will remain with us throughout Friday and
Saturday, too. A Touch of Thread is a full service Gammill dealer and carry a full array of longarm supplies.
The Friday evening banquet features a delicious dinner and socializing with your fellow quilters. Following
dinner, nationally known quilt designer, teacher, author and OLAQ member Shirley Stutz shares her story,
"She Did What?!". In addition, the members of the Ohio LongArm Quilters have made a truly exquisite quilt
using the Feathered Fantasy pattern designed by Shirley, and the excitement will peak when the winning raffle
ticket is drawn.

"Quilt as Desired"
Presented by the Ohio Longarm Quilters
This is the exhibit from the Ohio LongArm Quilters 2007 Challenge. Each quilter (all members of OLAQ)
started out with the exact same 20 inch square quilt top consisting of a large red and white Ohio Star block on
a white background.
They each made their own choice of batting and thread and quilted the top as they wished. See how different
the results are - and vote for your favorite. The favorites will be announced at the Friday evening dinner
banquet.
"Have a Heart" Quilt Exhibition
Sponsored by Meander Publishing LLC, Gammill, Machine Quilters Exposition and Angel Threads Quilting.
These wallhanging sized quilts are part of the "Have A Heart" Quilt Competition to benefit the American Heart
Association. They will be auctioned online in November 2007, after traveling the US for Special Exhibits.
